10 Thoughts from Week 3

Random thoughts from Week 3 in the NFL:
  1. The Giants are tuning Coughlin out. It's happened to him before and it's definitely happening to him now.
  2. Pittsburgh proved once again that the formula for winning in the NFL is quite simple: run the ball effectively, have a strong defense and DO NOT turn the ball over.
  3. New England – where’s your defense? Once upon a time, they had a defense built to stop the Colts…Now they can’t stop the Bills from putting up 30…
  4. Vick looked superb again. Looking forward to the Vick/McNabb showdown next Sunday. Quick pick: if the Redskins couldn’t stop a Steven Jackson-less Rams, I’m not sure how they’re going to stop Jackson, Maclin, McCoy, Celek and Vick…
  5. The Redskins and Jim Haslett need to drop the 3-4 defense. This new scheme isn’t working for players who were drafted/signed to play the 4-3.
  6. San Francisco is in trouble. Granted, teams have started 0-4 and made the playoffs but it’s not looking good for Singletary and his boys.
  7. What happened to Carolina? They’ve gone from dangerous to toothless. Let’s celebrate John Fox’s tenure in Carolina as this is sure to be his last hurrah.
  8. Heard that there was a Roy Williams sighting in Houston yesterday. Big game for the Lamar Odom of the NFL. When they’re clicking on all cylinders, Dallas is a tough out.
  9. Kansas City has plenty of weapons and if they continue to play like this, we may be seeing them in the playoffs.
  10. Vincent Jackson would solve all of San Diego’s problems. Without a clear #1 receiver, the Chargers will continue to struggle. Blame it on the GM.
